Smile Makeover

Services — Hershey, PA

A smile is a powerful way of communication

If you are self-conscious about your teeth, you may cover your smile or not smile at all — creating false impressions of being shy or unfriendly. A new smile clears those assumptions and helps you make a greater impact, personally and professionally.

You are a candidate for Smile Design if:

  • You have stained teeth or discolored fillings
  • Your teeth are crowded, overlapped, or crooked
  • You have missing teeth or large gaps between teeth
  • Your teeth have uneven shapes from chipping, fractures, or rough edges
  • Your teeth are uneven in length
  • You have a gummy smile

Orthodontia and veneers — the two key treatments

Orthodontia is a specialized field of dentistry by which malaligned teeth — crowded or crooked — are straightened into their normal positions using braces and wires.

Veneers are paper-thin, custom-made coverings that conceal the front and side surfaces of a tooth, much like a mask or an artificial fingernail. They are made of ceramic or composite resin and look very natural. Ceramic veneers are more durable and require 2–3 sittings; composite veneers require only one sitting.

Smile makeover — your questions answered

Candidacy, techniques, and what to expect from your smile design consultation.

A smile makeover — also called Smile Design — is a skillful blend of cosmetic science and art that allows Dr. Patel to sculpt or design your smile. The overall appearance of your six upper front teeth is improved, since they are most visible when you smile. Cosmetically enhanced teeth look more natural and last longer due to improved technology and materials.

You are a candidate for smile design if you have stained teeth or discolored fillings; crowded, overlapped, or crooked teeth; missing teeth or large gaps; uneven tooth shapes from chipping or fractures; teeth that are uneven in length; or a gummy smile. Dr. Patel will assess your individual case during a consultation.

Orthodontia is a specialized field of dentistry by which malaligned teeth — crowded or crooked — are straightened into their normal positions using braces, wires, and other appliances. It is often the first step in a comprehensive smile makeover, establishing proper alignment before other cosmetic treatments are applied.

A veneer is a paper-thin, custom-made covering that conceals the front and side surfaces of a tooth — much like a mask or an artificial fingernail. It is made of ceramic or composite resin and looks very natural. Ceramic veneers are more durable and require 2–3 sittings. Composite veneers require only one sitting.

Treatment time varies by procedure. Composite veneers and bonding can be completed in a single visit. Ceramic veneers require 2–3 appointments. Orthodontic treatment typically takes 12–24 months depending on the complexity of alignment needed. Dr. Patel will outline a realistic timeline during your consultation.
